My Design Philosophy

My design inspiration comes from my own daily accumulation, and most of the time, it comes from the living conditions around me and collecting examples and photos from traveling to various places, or from some architect's design cases I have accumulated before.

Generational understanding

This is based on the situation of the increasing work pressure of young people, through the classification of different generations and understanding the behavioral habits of different generations, the elderly can be accompanied and the young can be relaxed. It is also a "bond" that connects the community together.

Slider image

The concept of bond

From the concept of bond, many elements are derived, including DNA strand structure, topology structure, knot structure, series structure. The elements are abstracted into the most basic geometric form and utilized. The elements are transformed from abstract to concrete.

The extension of elements

Through the extension of the elements on the element board, many interesting forms can be obtained, and different elements are "defined" according to the needs of different groups, and elements are reinterpreted from both abstract and concrete perspectives. The design method of modularization is obtained, the community planning method is obtained

Design development

In this part, the three-dimensional space to be used in the design is developed based on the elements obtained from the transformation of two-dimensional graphics, and the body is analyzed based on the structure and operation methods (topological structure, Boolean operation method, modularity) obtained in two-dimensional.

Final Design Proposal

This community is clearly next to the next community, but it is cut off by a wall. Therefore, my design target is to take this community as the divergence point, radiate the surrounding communities in a planned way, break the "walls" in the community (physical walls and walls in people's minds)

General Views

It is hoped that the design can change the gap between generations , and at the same time, it is hoped that the community can become a place full of children's laughter. And through the organic architectural form, rich space, break the cold appearance of modern architecture, and awaken people

Design Narrative

Students theme: Existance Design is always future-oriented, and future-oriented design is itself future-oriented, creative, and full of uncertain unknowns. However, the real people-oriented design is to pay more attention to the psychological needs of the public and minority groups, while focusing on function. Consider more diverse groups to realize the special meaning of design in modern society most effective. The communication between the viewer and the artwork depends on a variety of factors contained in a place, the social structure of the event, or even the specific instructions provided by a zipper light switch.
“The construction of a view is like the experience of a lifetime.” The new and old superimposed, intricate carbon trail is like the footprint of life, recording every audience it meets in its limited life and the story they have. As an interactive installation, the audience is closer to the work and allows the audience to become part of the work. The round carbon sphere is interesting and interactive, but also inspires people to think about “existence”.

Honours Project - Site Research and Representation

Part I: Research and Analysis

This house was the residence of the military paper mill in 1947, and it was a guest house within the army. Each house was only ten square meters; there were six rooms in total, and the internal space was relatively small. Later, the utilization rate of paper was reduced, and the reform of the country led to the demolition of the paper mill. The guest house stayed, and the area was subdivided into this community. So, this place was a shared area but it was managed by the neighborhood committee. The neighborhood committee kept trying to renovate it, and it was unified. It wanted to build it, and then it was one of those bachelor apartments, but it was so shabby that nobody wanted to live there. It was abandoned, and nobody managed it. During the epidemic, medical supplies were isolated in this area, and nucleic acid was collected here, but no one managed it after unsealing it. (Social problems are spatial scope.) The reason why a building wants to be transformed is that there is a need. The reason why this place has been abandoned for such a long time but has never been dismantled and transformed is that most residents living here share a common emotional bond with this paper mill, which can be retained on the premise of not affecting the construction of infrastructure. At the same time, it can also be extended from this building to extend people's old emotional sustenance for new buildings in the big environment. First of all, the paper industry itself is a sustainable industry, but with the development of The Times, more people are too much used in the electronic industry and ignore the paper industry. But its impact on our lives will not change, become the common emotional bond of this community will not change. In terms of the use of materials, paper materials are referenced to a certain extent, while having a common memory imprint of paper mills. It conforms to the concept of sustainable transformation and the introduction of new paper materials.

Part II: Site Representation

In my opinion, the basic memory of the building is a space with simple functions. It can provide a public space with functions when people have needs, and serve the community and surrounding communities. However, going further, it represents the common memory of another large group, the memory of people of an era, which has certain realistic transformation significance
Secondly, paper pasted wall coverings are the cultural items I choose to convert. Meanwhile, paper pulp is also the main element of the articles I use. In the composition structure, paper pulp is an indispensable part, and the discarded paper pulp also has specific meaning, practical meaning and symbolic meaning From the original community service center for the elderly to the direction of public paper culture dissemination, I suggest that the project direction is pulp research and service center, to save the decay of the existing paper industry, to extend the history and culture and the feelings of the stage group, to be passed on from generation to generation. More and more people rely on science and technology for most of their lives, but in the long history of development, the common memory of most people is writing, and there is no more science and technology memory, although it is progress, but their own memory is not to be covered up, the existence of memory is respect for our historical development, but also respect for people in every era).
The development of the world is metabolic, the status of paper will change, any item will become better or worse, but the shared memory will not change, so the necessary design needs will be generated, item restoration, the use of repair, reorganization, recovery, backup of different restoration methods for design thinking, focusing on the process and results of restoration, on the basis of old things to create a new world.
As the aging problem increases year by year, the special social value and social significance of the elderly are re-questioned. In fact, the meaning of the real pension space brought to the elderly may not be an empty space to be protected, but an expansion space to realize the need. Through the analysis and research on the existing development skills of the elderly who truly master the traditional society and may be eliminated, In addition, it innovates its original skills and modern technology, combines the original building structure and retains the original basic equipment and materials, implements the sustainable development strategy of the national modern building materials, and finally forms a new type of community-friendly interactive space and builds a good neighborhood and family space. On the other hand, through the exploration of the paper and printing industry and some industry craftsmen with traditional special skills, the growth of the era and the inevitable expansion process are revealed to more people of different generations, becoming a bridge of communication between generations and highlighting the common memory of the special era

Honours Project

Theoretical Underpinning

Part I: Generation Z and Self Identification

"This is an era where 'individualism' thrives as a form of luxury."

Pioneers in the Digital Era

Generation X is a demographic cohort that includes individuals born between the early 1960s and late 1970s. Affecting Generation X is the rise of technological advances, which has had a significant impact on their personal and professional lives. While technology has created new opportunities and efficiencies, it has also contributed to social isolation and a decline in face-to-face communication. Furthermore, members of Generation X have also had to navigate issues related to changing family structures. Additionally, they have faced ongoing challenges related to discrimination and inequality based on gender, race, sexual orientation, and other factors. Unlike previous generations, due to its diversity and inclusiveness, we give it more meaning, this is an era of "individualism" that prevails in the age of luxury, black represents mystery, mysterious online world and the interaction of different minds are the salient characteristics of the Age Z crowd, The hard black texture of the network social environment wrapped outside is stronger than the black soft choice of people's own inside, but the bright red hard flowers with characteristics still highlight in any dark environment with their own unique characteristics, breaking through the bondage.

Part II:  The turbulent development of Generation X

"One of the foremost challenges for Generation X is the impact of economic globalization, which has decreased economic security and hindered social mobility."

Navigating Social and Economic Challenges

In most people's consciousness, generation X pay more attention to survival skills, for life pragmatism is above all, their generation to bear more is the responsibility of the family and parental responsibility, to comply with the rules of their every stage of development needs, not the objective constraints, but the subjective and passive choice, and therefore this is the majority of the people in the eyes of the existing "conservative thinking", and the majority of the people in the eyes of the family. The tendency to pass from one generation to the next stems from the media, and it is precisely because different media have an impact on human cognition and social structure, and the media themselves have a greater impact on society than the content of the communication, leading to a deep-rooted "conservative ideology". I choose trees and stakes because the roots of trees are immovable. Maybe this idea has different effects on everyone, which can be big or small. Or a simple decision I made in life so I took different size stumps and on the stumps surface you can see that all the needles are the same because that generation y although the medium changes quickly there is always a stubborn medium the same medium is bound to have the same identity and I took pulp at the bottom because Paper is produced using trees as raw materials.

Part III: The contradictory analysis of the control ability of Generation X and Z

"Generation Z has utilized the internet's virtual and real aspects effectively, reshaping their self-identity and fostering meaningful associations."

Navigating Digital Landscapes and Subcultures

The emergence of the phenomenon of interaction between the real and the virtual has greatly changed the way and content of people's interactions in traditional society, and the two parties in the virtual reality are more and more inclined to self-identify the way of self-presentation, so that the various symbols used in the process of communicating with each other are more and more camouflaged and confusing, and at the same time, the content of the feedback is more purposeful. Therefore, we need to make full use of the different experiences of different generations and their ability to reshape their own concepts to form an effective spatial community and to promote real intergenerational communication in the community environment. The richness and simplicity of the tone reveal the cultural cognition of different eras, but it can also be coordinated and matched in the common environment, so we need to make full use of the different experiences of different generations and their ability to reshape their own ideas, forming an effective space environment to promote true intergenerational communication.
