My Design Philosophy

I am very glad to be a designer. Design is a multi-faceted course, integrating various subjects such as sociology, philosophy, etc., which makes the process of design a very interesting one, and my passion also comes from it. In the exploration of each project, I feel different cultural customs and cultures, which has become my favourite stage. The design process is like a journey, a pilgrimage, in which I accumulate strength and reach the temple in my heart at the end of the journey.

Generational understanding

This is based on the situation of the increasing work pressure of young people, through the classification of different generations and understanding the behavioral habits of different generations, the elderly can be accompanied and the young can be relaxed. It is also a "bond" that connects the community together.

The concept of bond

From the concept of bond, many elements are derived, including DNA strand structure, topology structure, knot structure, series structure. The elements are abstracted into the most basic geometric form and utilized. The elements are transformed from abstract to concrete.

The extension of elements

Through the extension of the elements on the element board, many interesting forms can be obtained, and different elements are "defined" according to the needs of different groups, and elements are reinterpreted from both abstract and concrete perspectives. The design method of modularization is obtained, the community planning method is obtained

Design development

In this part, the three-dimensional space to be used in the design is developed based on the elements obtained from the transformation of two-dimensional graphics, and the body is analyzed based on the structure and operation methods (topological structure, Boolean operation method, modularity) obtained in two-dimensional.

Final Design Proposal

This community is clearly next to the next community, but it is cut off by a wall. Therefore, my design target is to take this community as the divergence point, radiate the surrounding communities in a planned way, break the "walls" in the community (physical walls and walls in people's minds)

General Views

It is hoped that the design can change the gap between generations , and at the same time, it is hoped that the community can become a place full of children's laughter. And through the organic architectural form, rich space, break the cold appearance of modern architecture, and awaken people

Theoretical Underpinning

Part I: Generation Z formation

"...Generation Z have been exposed to more information and knowledge during their growth, and their way of thinking and values'

Pivotal element of identity

The characteristics of the Z generation population are products of generational influence, and the formation of the Z generation population is mainly the result of the joint action of multiple factors. First of all, with the development of science and technology and the popularity of the Internet, people of Generation Z have been exposed to more information and knowledge during their growth, and their way of thinking and values have also been greatly affected. Secondly, the Z generation is facing a more complex social environment and competitive pressure, which also prompts them to pay more attention to self-expression and personalized development.

In addition, the Generation Z population is also influenced by various factors such as family, education, and culture, which together shape their personalities and values. Therefore, the formation of the Generation Z population is the result of the interaction of multiple factors, which makes them a unique and diverse group. I think the elements of Generation Z are unconstrained, self-loving, and self-centred.

Part II: Work Description

".... I use many bright and unconventional colours to express the youth and self of Generation Z,."

Examining the shift

I am also a member of Generation Z; because I receive more new things and have more aesthetic choices on the Internet. I advocate freedom of dress, and I am willing to try any style of clothes. But in the eyes of my parents, only proper dressing can represent me as a well-behaved girl, as they rigidly linked dressing with personality. I don't agree, so I created this work called Beauty Not Defined. In this work, I use many bright and unconventional colours to express the youth and self of Generation Z, using different materials to create a beauty that is not accepted by the previous generation. Exaggerated makeup, nail art, and purchasing luxury goods are not things that their good girls should do.

But what about that? This is Generation Z, please yourself, as long as you are happy. Beauty is not defined, big eyes are a kind of beauty, small eyes are also beautiful, and unique is the motto of Generation Z's life. The mobile phone placed next to it also indicates the dependence of Generation Z on new media. The entire work features a black background, highlighting the bright colours of the collage and highlighting the central subject.

Part III: The changes of time

"The divide between these two generations is not just about technology, but it's a microcosm of how the world has changed over the decades.."

Values of China's Baby Boomers and Generation Z

Generation Z and Generation X are two generations that couldn't be more different, each carrying its own unique blend of traits and values. A significant distinction between them lies in their approach towards life and technology. Generation X, born between the 1960s and 1980s, lived through the dawn of technology, witnessing the transition from analogue to digital. They were the first to embrace the personal computer revolution, the internet's early days, and the beginning of the digital age.
However, Generation Z, born in the late 1990s and early 2000s, has grown up in a world where technology is not just a part of life but the fabric of it. They've never known a time without smartphones, social media, and the internet being an integral part of their daily existence. This has shaped their values, communication styles, and even their identity in profound ways.
The divide between these two generations is not just about technology, but it's a microcosm of how the world has changed over the decades. Generation X had to adapt to new technologies, while Generation Z has been born into a world where technology is constantly evolving and reshaping their lives.
