My design inspiration can come from anything I see, the food I taste, the interesting colour matching, and the things I have experienced, such as taking an umbrella walk outside in the rain today, or repairing my broken bike, or appreciating the beautiful scenery during travel.

Generational understanding

This is based on the situation of the increasing work pressure of young people, through the classification of different generations and understanding the behavioral habits of different generations, the elderly can be accompanied and the young can be relaxed. It is also a "bond" that connects the community together.

The concept of bond

From the concept of bond, many elements are derived, including DNA strand structure, topology structure, knot structure, series structure. The elements are abstracted into the most basic geometric form and utilized. The elements are transformed from abstract to concrete.

The extension of elements

Through the extension of the elements on the element board, many interesting forms can be obtained, and different elements are "defined" according to the needs of different groups, and elements are reinterpreted from both abstract and concrete perspectives. The design method of modularization is obtained, the community planning method is obtained

Design development

In this part, the three-dimensional space to be used in the design is developed based on the elements obtained from the transformation of two-dimensional graphics, and the body is analyzed based on the structure and operation methods (topological structure, Boolean operation method, modularity) obtained in two-dimensional.

Design Narrative

Theme: Healing From green plants and dried ginkgo leaves. The significance of small medicine bottles for the veterinary station is to rescue and cure sick animals. For the current ginkgo trees, people's wrong awareness of protection is damaged, and they also need to be healed.
"Healing", as my design concept, takes the continuation of emotion as the entry point. By strengthening the connection between people and between people and natural life, it can bring people feelings about "life, healing, touching" and so on.
Design: Using the appearance of the building itself in the place I chose as the overall appearance of the device, making it a "memory box", used by the glass material of site object—— small medicine bottle, as well as the power of life brought by the small medicine bottle, I use green plants to express.
Interaction: Human head enters the box to feel the breath of natural life, so as to enjoy the state of healing and strengthen the relationship between man and nature. In addition, two people can also enter at the same time, to achieve the interaction and communication with each other.

Part I: Research and Analysis

The abandoned veterinary station has been abandoned for more than a decade and is located in Xiangchengtun Village, Xianghe County, Langfang City, Hebei Province.
The village has a middle school and a primary school, surrounded by large areas of farmland. Opposite the site is the hospital jointly used by nine villages, next to the hospital that is being built to place medical equipment, expand the hospital warehouse of the hospital, and the thousand-year-old ginkgo trees. The house structure is a brick and concrete structure, the interior and external walls of the first two houses exceed 240 mm, belong to a load-bearing wall, also have a load-bearing column, cannot be easily dismantled and transformed, and the space that transforms is smaller. But the east side of the house has no load-bearing column and can be dismantled, the transformation of the space is larger.

The interior house space is relatively compact, but it has interesting architectural characteristics. The house itself has been divided into internal and external areas, and the interior area is divided into three Spaces that do not pass the function. The area of each space is different, the room height is different, and the distance between the two houses is also different. The construction of the nearby hospital warehouse has affected the lighting of the site (veterinary station).

Part II: Site Representation

Narrative:

The moving emotion makes me think of life and the power of help. Through life I think of green plants, a life that grows freely, and the rings that record the growth and age of trees; through the power of rescue I think of the straw in what people often call "lifesaving straw", and of the capsules that save people or animals and plants.
Based on the material of the small medicine bottle, I thought it was glass or plastic. According to the diffuse shape of the glass, it goes from the middle to the extension, and I think of glass etching, which works with templates to pattern the glass; through the plastic, I think of some light, small things, cotton and feathers. The colour of the small medicine bottle, it is mostly transparent, white and brown. Transparent, white things I have thought of water and foam; brown things are coffee stains and neglected withered ginkgo leaves. At the same time, ginkgo biloba leaves can also be used as a dye on the cloth.

Part I: The living Generation Z

Internet popularization

Generation Z is a generation that grew up in the era of Internet popularization. Through the release of dynamic and other forms of social platforms to let their mood get vent, and pressure is an important factor to vent emotions. Academic pressure and school pressure are difficult problems that generation Z cannot escape. They need to bear multiple pressures such as family expectations and social responsibilities. In the final analysis, it is the influence of the education system, which causes the psychological tension and anxiety of Generation Z, and promotes the generation of pressure and the release of emotions.
In my work, the organza and cotton at the bottom represent the pressure on Gen Z in the current Internet age, and the different colors of the Gen Z population represent the convergence of living individuals to represent open social media to relieve stress and release emotions.

Part II: Generation X strives for work-life balance

Finding a balance

As Generation X grew up in difficult economic times, they worked harder to pursue the balance between work and life. They often use the slogan of "work hard, play hard", and they will realize their real wishes while pursuing their career. In today's society, work has become an indispensable part of people's lives, but simply pursuing career success and ignoring other aspects of life will bring many problems. Therefore, finding a balance between work and life is crucial to people's physical and mental health, family relationships and social harmony.

In my works, the two halves of the butterfly wings are the balance of generation X, half of the gear members represent the pressure from work and society, and half of the blue diamonds and pearls represent the pursuit of life. I want to express the pursuit of the balance of work and life facing generation X.

Part III: Different but the same pressures

Growth backgrounds

As two intergenerational groups, Generation X and Generation Z, their growth backgrounds are influenced by different historical and social environment. Generation X grew up in the early stage of reform and opening up, and their political thought was relatively single. Gen Z grew up in the digital age and is more open and inclusive. Despite the differences in growth backgrounds between the two generations, they are under pressure from education, employment, family and so aspects. In the future, with the continuous development and change of the society,

Gen X and Gen Z may face more challenges and opportunities. In my work, cloth and cotton represent red balls representing different degrees and different aspects of pressure. They are surrounded by cloth and cotton of the current era. The pressure comes from the products of different generations, but the butterfly representing generation X and Z people will eventually get rid of the trouble of "red".
