My Design Philosophy

I'm Tan Ruochong , Helen. I'm an interior design enthusiast who loves traditional culture. My designs often combine traditional culture with modern high technology to achieve the effect of inheritance and innovation.
As a designer, my interest lies in combining the dramatic elegance of traditional Chinese opera with contemporary interior design. I am fascinated by the exquisite culture of stage art - the abstract elements of facial makeup in Peking Opera or Kunqu Opera, or the intricate embroidery patterns of Peking Opera costumes, or the dynamic elements of yin-yang stage compositions, which have deeply inspired my works.

Through the distribution of modern environmental design structures, I reimagine these arts and cultures, which are closely related to and integrated with my designs. Let my design also incorporate Chinese classical culture. For me, design is a process of revisiting history and stepping into the time machine of history. As long as I can balance abstraction and detail, and integrate classicism and innovation into the design, I can make the "story" breathe.
